Ottawa Bach Choir sings
“Christmas from around the world”

Ottawa (Canada) - The Ottawa Bach Choir (OBC) is proud to present its inspiring concert, Christmas Around the World, on Saturday, December 12, 2009, 8:00 pm at St. Jean Baptiste Church. Audiences will be pleased to hear new and old seasonal music from across the globe. The Choir will perform works from Spain, England, France, Germany, Holland, Scandinavia and North America by composers such as Britten, Pärt, Patriquin, Praetorius and Susa. Ottawa harpist, Caroline Léonardelli, adds flair as soloist and accompanist for the performance.

“In the midst of this busy season, we hope to give listeners a moment to relax and reflect,” says Founder and Artistic Director, Lisette Canton.  “Carols from around the world will be presented in a beautifully inspiring setting.  This concert, recorded by Radio-Canada’s Espace Musique, is sure to touch the hearts of all ages.”

The OBC, founded by Dr. Lisette Canton in 2002 and consisting of some of the top choristers from the National Capital Region and beyond, has just returned from its very successful third European tour where it performed in Leipzig, London and Paris.

The last concert of the subscription series, Miserere, is on Sunday, March 21, 2010, 7:30 pm at Knox Presbyterian Church, Ottawa. The choir also continues its comprehensive educational outreach program, which has taken choral music in both concert and workshop presentations into many Ottawa elementary and high schools.
